What Laws Work for Gig Workers?

Survey by Pay Up Campaign (see payup.wtf for more info)

Prop. 22 passing in California is a threat to gig workers all across the US. It's a law created by gig companies that totally redefines "independent contractor" for gig workers — and it allows apps to exert more control over workers, while driving down pay.

And gig companies like DoorDash, Instacart, and Uber are already talking about passing laws like Prop. 22 in other states & at the federal level.

We need laws designed by workers, for workers — not corporations or politicians.
First, we have to get on the same page about the laws we really want. Regardless of where we stand on issues like employee vs. IC status, most of us want the same things: freedom, flexibility, better pay, basic protections.

The best way to keep gig companies from taking control is to get workers united around what we REALLY need. Please share your opinion below — what do you want to see change about the gig economy? What is valuable about gig work & should be protected? What laws work for gig workers?
